About KGE
Welcome to the Knowledge Graph Editor (KGE) of University of Crete - TALOS, a powerful tool designed for creating, visualizing, and manipulating knowledge graphs. This application allows you to build complex semantic networks with classes, individuals, and their relationships.

Quick Start Guide
- Create your first node: Use the "Add Node" panel in the left sidebar
- Add attributes: Select a node and use the Attributes panel to add properties
- Create relationships: Connect nodes using the "Add Relation" panel
- Organize your graph: Drag nodes to arrange them visually
- Save your work: Use the download button in the header to export your graph

Left Sidebar
Contains all creation and editing tools for nodes and relations
Canvas
Main workspace where your graph is displayed and manipulated
Right Sidebar
Shows detailed information about selected elements and graph statistics

Node Management
Creating Nodes
Nodes can be either Classes (abstract concepts) or Individuals (specific instances).
- Use the "Add Node" panel in the left sidebar
- Enter a name and select the node type
- Click "Add Node" or press Enter
Editing Nodes
- Rename: Use the Edit Node panel
- Change type: Toggle between Class and Individual in the Edit panel
- Move: Click and drag nodes to rearrange your graph
Node Attributes
Add rich metadata to your nodes with attributes:
- String: Text values with optional language tags
- Number: Numeric values for quantitative data
- Multi-language: Support for 20+ languages in string attributes
Finding Nodes
Use the filter field in the "All Nodes" panel to quickly locate nodes by name.
Relation Management
Creating Relations
- Specify source and target nodes
- Add a descriptive label for the relationship
- Relations appear as directional arrows in the graph
Editing Relations
- Click on a relation to select it
- Use the Edit Relation panel to change the label
- Relations can be deleted from the Remove Relation panel
Finding Relations
Use the filter field in the "All Relations" panel to search relationships by label or node names.
Graph Visualization
Customization
- Node Colors: Automatically assigned based on type (classes vs individuals)
- Relation Styles: Directional arrows with customizable labels
View Controls
- Zoom: Use the zoom buttons in bottom right
Visual Filtering
- Node Filtering: Non-matching nodes become semi-transparent
- Relation Highlighting: Hover over nodes to see connected relations
- Selection Focus: Selected elements are highlighted in all views
Importing Data
Supported Formats
- RDF: RDF/XML format
- JSON: Custom KGE format
Import Process
- Click the upload button in the header
- Select your file
- Choose the appropriate format
- The graph will load automatically
Exporting Data
Export Options
- RDF: Standard semantic web format (RDF/XML)
- JSON: Preserves all KGE-specific features

- Enter a filename when prompted
- Select your preferred format
- The file will download automatically
